Umbilical Repair

As most of you know, Kamryn was born with an umbilical hernia, which basically means that her belly button didn't close on the inside, causing her intestines and fluid to protrude out through her belly button. I made a post about it last year and you can see a picture of the "belly nubbin" here. Anyway, we took her to Primary Children's a few weeks ago to have a consultation with a surgeon and he told us we should get it fixed unless we want to wait until right before she goes to Kindergarten. (If we don't get it fixed at all, it could cause problems later in life when she wants to have children.) We decided to get it over with and she won't remember it at this age. So, tomorrow is the big day. We have to be there at 6am and surgery is scheduled for 7:30am. It will probably only be a 15 minute procedure and we should be home by mid-morning if all goes well. The doctor said he does this procedure 1-2 times a week so it's pretty common. We are still nervous of course, but it's a minor thing and we are greatful that it's not something more serious. Any prayers on Kamryn's behalf would be very much appreciated!

Oh, and because I know everyone will offer since you're all such great people, Kenadie is having a sleepover at her cousins house tonight and she is very excited about that! :-)

Good luck tomorrow! I'm so sorry she has to go through with this! It really is a simple procedure, but when it's your child, it's not! Please let us know if we can do ANYTHING to help!

Good luck. I totally agree with Camille, it is so hard, no matter what when it is your child. I know she'll do great. Please let me know if there anything that you need.

I hope everything went well. Hopefully you are home by now and getting some rest. Since everyone else has offered to help, I won't. Totally kidding! I think it's amazing we are surrounded by people who are always willing to help out. It's awesome. And I've definitely benefited from our neighbors helping me out! So, of course, give me a call if you need to have Kenadie come over to get her off your hands or need a meal.
