St. Patty's and a Project

Now that my kids are getting older, I try to do fun things to celebrate little holidays with them. They all, of course, wore green on St. Patrick's Day and while Kenadie was at school I put green food coloring in the toilet bowl just for fun (and NO, it did not stain the porcelain). For dinner we decided to make green pancakes, green eggs and the girls drank green milk. There's a rule at our house that when you drink plain milk it has to be through a straw and you must blow bubbles, so we also had green bubbles that night. :) Kamryn thinks it's even better to blow so many bubbles that her cup overflows.
I have yet to perfect the art of pancake making, but the kids ate them so they couldn't have been that bad, right?! After cooking, they were more brown than green, but you could still see the color through the sides so they turned out okay.

Khloe didn't have a green dinner, but I had to throw this picture of her in anyway because she's just so darn cute!

In Kenadie's class they did reports on different animals and this year she chose the panda bear (last year she chose the elephant). You had the choice of either making a poster or a diorama. The poster, in my opinion, is the easier choice, but we did that last year so we decided to make a diorama this time around to try something different. On vacation two years ago we bought a little figurine of a panda bear at the San Diego Zoo so we used that as our little animal. Then Kenadie and I found an old shoe box, some scrapbook paper, pencils and tissue paper and got to work. This is how it looked when we finished:

Now it may not look like it took a long time, but Kenadie and I spent a few hours constructing it and I think it turned out pretty good. Kenadie also liked it and really, that's all that matters anyway. The best part was spending some one-on-one time with her and having fun together. The fact that she got a good grade was just icing on the cake. :)
