1st Grade Funny

I volunteer in Kenadie's first grade class, usually once a week. Yesterday was my morning to help and her teacher had me test the kids on their money skills since they've been learning about the four main coins of U.S. currency. I had a small bowl of coins and they had to sort them into separate piles and then tell me which was a penny, nickle, dime and quarter. After that they had to tell me how much they are worth. Here is a conversation I had with one little girl in the class:

Me: Can you tell me the names of the coins?

Girl (pointing to different piles): Penny...Quarter...Dime...Nickle.

Me: Good job! Now can you tell me how much each one is worth?

The girl is quiet for a minute while she thinks about it and I can tell she's struggling a little bit, so I decide to help her out.

Me (pointing to the pile of pennies): How much is this one worth?

(She must have thought I said "who is this" instead of "how much is this" because her reply was priceless.)

Girl: Gordon B. Hinckley?

Me (trying to stifle a laugh): No sweetheart, how much is it?

I don't even remember if she got it right but it was so darn cute the way she said it. Aahh, the innocence of youth!

I just wanted to tell you that that baby in the corner is looking great! I think the last time I really looked at it it still looked like a fish with a tail. Yeah, I'm not that great at noticing details in the corner, obviously.

So funny! Don't you wish we could all stay so innocent? Thanks for the laugh!
